Gemma Bourne

Gemma is Managing Director, Head of Property and leads the impact investment strategy and portfolio which is focused on building a responsible and impact-led institutional market for social and affordable housing across the UK.

Prior to Better Society Capital, Gemma spent eight years at Lendlease across investment, regeneration and sustainability. As Head of the Lendlease Foundation, she led Be Onsite, a social enterprise providing routes into employment for serving prisoners and ex-offenders, and delivered the £3m Southwark Construction Skills Centre, which trained 2,000+ local people and secured employment for 300 young people.

Earlier in her career, Gemma specialised in environmental consultancy, advising on contaminated land and impact assessment for major UK infrastructure projects.

Gemma holds a Masters in Chemistry from the University of Surrey, where she is an active alumna.
