West London Zone (AllChild)

Around two million children from disadvantaged backgrounds in England are falling behind their peers academically. Behind that figure are children missing school, struggling in class and dealing with pressures at home. Without the right support at the right time, those challenges can negatively impact the rest of their lives.

AllChild is a national charity that connects local community groups and schools, creating a joined-up network of support and opportunities. They bring together local authorities, philanthropists, central government, and schools themselves to improve life chances for the 20% of children most at risk of poor outcomes.

At the heart of the programme, and embedded in each school, is a dedicated Link Worker who works with each child and guides them through a personalised two-year package of support tailored to their unique strengths, needs and interests. The aim is for every child to make progress in all aspects of their life, including wellbeing, confidence, relationships and academic achievement.

This is an outcomes-based contract, so the commissioner only pays for measurable improvements in the young people’s lives. The target outcome is an improvement in overall well-being and, where relevant, helping the young people remain in sustained education or employment, leading to an improvement in educational attainment and life outcomes.

AllChild works with over 1,200 children in schools across the Royal Borough of Kensington and Chelsea, the London Borough of Hammersmith and Fulham, Brent and the City of Westminster to help them achieve their potential and flourish in adulthood. Results from 2025 show that after two years in the programme, the wellbeing metrics measured (mental wellbeing, relationships and confidence) present an improvement for at least 75% of the participants.
