  • The opportunity

    We’re recruiting an Investment Manager – Portfolio to take a leading role in managing our multi-asset Treasury Portfolio and drive forward key elements of our Social Impact Investment Portfolio.

    This is an exciting chance for someone to leverage their investment and financial market expertise in an organisation that is driven by impact and systems change to improve people’s lives. You’ll have the opportunity to gain core impact investing knowledge and skills by working across our portfolio of social impact investments including charity bonds, driving financial and impact outcomes for funds nearing exit, and partnering with our lending, venture and property teams on high-impact projects and investments.

    You’ll be able to engage directly with diverse fund managers in our Treasury Portfolio, take an active role in liquidity management working alongside colleagues across BSC, and present performance insights to our Investment Committee, supported by our external advisor XPS.

  • What you will do

    Take a leading role in the ongoing management of our multi-asset Treasury Portfolio, collaborating closely with the Middle Office and Finance Teams, including:  

    • Lead the investment analysis, performance monitoring and manager engagement for our treasury holdings across fixed income, real assets and multi-asset funds
    • Lead Treasury Portfolio performance reporting including to our Investment Committee, working closely with the Middle Office and Finance Teams.
    • Collaborate with our external advisor XPS to shape views on market conditions and investment ideas.
    • Participate in monthly liquidity meetings led by the Finance Team to support active liquidity management.
    • Support strategic initiatives on how we deliver our Treasury Portfolio such as the review of our asset allocation, enhancing our ESG approach or reviewing fund mandates.

    Lead the performance management and manager engagement for our social impact investments, including:

    • Manage a portfolio of social impact investments towards exit and delivery on financial returns, high social impact and system change goals.
    • Oversee our externally managed charity bond portfolio, including where needed, engaging with issuers refinancing.
    • Capture key portfolio learnings that can help improve how we invest to benefit underserved and vulnerable individuals in the UK.

    Partner with our property, venture and lending teams to provide additional support on portfolio projects as required, including for special situations and market or sector analysis

    Help to build a world class social impact investment approach and team, including:

    • Lead and contribute to parts of our impact investing practice and process in collaboration with colleagues across BSC.
    • Contribute to team, and, organisation-wide initiatives that help us deliver our mission such as working groups to improve our approach on key areas.
  • What you will bring

    Qualifications & Experience

    Essential:

    • Demonstrable commitment to improving lives in the UK
    • Experience in public markets and/or fixed income, including performing investment analysis, making investment recommendations, monitoring performance and engaging with investees / fund managers.
    • Demonstrable knowledge and application of macroeconomic analysis and drivers of investment performance
    • Demonstrable strong quantitative analysis and investment research skills, including through financianalysis, modelling and market research
    • Demonstrable experience in project management
    • Proven relationship building and stakeholder management

    Desirable:

    • Work experience in impact investing or sustainable investing
    • Work experience that faces the financial, social or public sector
    • Knowledge of investing in credit, real estate, renewables, venture, or outcome contracts
