The opportunity:
Following a review of our People & Talent team, we are recruiting for a specialist Talent Acquisition & Development Officer on a 3 day week basis (with flexibility on days).
This is an exciting new role at Better Society Capital, focusing on getting great talent through the door and ensuring that their development meets the high standards to enable us to continue in our mission is to grow the amount of money invested in tackling social issues and inequalities in the UK. This is an exciting time to join Better Society Capital as we refresh our strategy for 2026-30, building on what we have learnt since we started our impact investing journey in 2012. Our team comes from a wide range of backgrounds, and are driven by transforming the way mainstream financial markets help deliver deep and lasting impact on people in the UK.

What you will do:
Talent Acquisition
- Manage the full recruitment cycle for all BSC hires in line with the recruitment strategy;
- Be the key user of our recruitment platform and ensure it continues to deliver to bring us a diverse talent pool in line with our values;
- Ensure a great candidate experience, whether successful or otherwise, during the whole recruitment process;
- Maintain relationship with partner organisations for secondment and early career recruitment;
- Manage relationships with recruitment agencies, including running a dedicated PSL;
- Working with the People and Talent Manager, manage the recruitment budget;
- Develop the BSC employer brand to appeal to a more diverse talent pool.
Talent Development
- Working in partnership with the People and Talent Senior Director and the wider business, support the delivery the BSC learning and development strategy;
- Manage the learning and development budget;
- Continuously seek to improve our offerings through a solution focussed approach for best practice;
- Where needed, update and design new learning and development offerings either to be delivered by the Talent Acquisition and Development Officer or by other members of the business;
- Recognise external trends and best practice in Talent Development and utilise these within BSC;
- Support line managers in managing talent internally;
- Lead on updates to the Performance Review cycle and ensuring this is run smoothly and on time.

Experience
Essential
- Experience in running a full recruitment cycle as an internal recruiter or HR/People professional
- Previous involvement in annual performance cycles
- Exposure to best practice learning & development practice
Desirable
- Involvement in or exposure to equity, diversity and inclusion work from a talent acquisition or development perspective
- Experience in managing day to day budgets
- Experience managing partnerships with external firms and recruitment agencies

Location: We are a UK-based business with an office in the Old Street area of London, accessible to a number of public transport links. This will be a hybrid role
