About Stephen
Stephen was appointed CEO in May 2021, having been interim CEO since May 2020. He has been at Better Society Capital since 2016, initially as Head of Strategy and Market Development.
He joined Better Society Capital from the Civil Service, where he held a range of senior posts across departments, including in the Cabinet Office, Ministry of Justice and Department for Energy and Climate Change. He was recently a member of the HM Treasury Social Impact Investment Advisory Group.
He has had a range of non-executive and trustee roles in the charitable and public sectors, including five years as Chair of the Friends Provident Foundation. He is a Policy Fellow at the Institute of Policy Research, University of Bath and his book "Culture and Values at the Heart of Policy Making" was published in 2020.
