Changing the housing market and improving people’s lives
There is a chronic shortage of housing in the UK, affecting thousands of people in different ways. There are rising levels of homelessness, quality affordable housing is in short supply, and vulnerable people, such as rough sleepers, people fleeing domestic abuse, and people with a disability, face a lack of suitable housing and the support they need.
The role of social impact investment
Social impact investing can play a significant role in addressing the housing crisis. It can help bring about changes to the system that can often feel hard to address and help increase the supply of affordable housing.
We invest alongside others in housing funds that increase the supply of quality social and affordable homes in the private rented sector. We work with specialist fund managers who buy, develop or refurbish homes for vulnerable or disadvantaged people. And to achieve long-term improvements to people’s lives, our partners work with expert social enterprises and charities who provide essential wraparound care and support.
