The challenge
The UK faces growing and more complex needs for health and care services and new ways of funding innovation will be essential if we are to address them successfully.
Our approach
We worked with expert partners in health and social care to provide new sources of capital for innovation. This was also the first time a large charity (Macmillan Cancer Support) invested in a social impact investment fund tailored to their charitable mission.
The fund
The Fund aims to improve long-term health outcomes by investing in community-based services and social enterprises that are impactful and scalable. The Fund offers financial options and business support, with tailored investments from £400,000 to over £1 million.
The Fund aims to deliver saving for commissioners, giving them access to upfront capital to develop or adapt new services.
